Ingredients
1
cup
cornmeal
1
cup
all-purpose flour
1
quarter cup
granulated sugar
1
tablespoon
baking powder
1
half teaspoon
salt
1
cup
milk
2
large
eggs
1
quarter cup
unsalted butter, melted
1
third cup
honey
1
quarter teaspoon
ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease an 8-inch square baking pan or a cast-iron skillet.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon (if using). Stir until well mixed.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and honey until well combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix; the batter should be slightly lumpy.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan or skillet and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes in the pan.
For the honey butter, mix 1/4 cup softened butter and 2 tablespoons honey in a small bowl until well blended.
Slice the cornbread into squares, serve warm, and spread with the honey butter for an indulgent touch.
